Sex Worker Serial Killer Gets 6 Life Sentences for Grisly Murders
On Wednesday, 18 September, the court sentenced Sifiso Mkhwanazi to life in prison after convicting him of a series of brutal murders. Judge Cassim Moosa, delivering the verdict at the High Court in Palm Ridge, emphasized Mkhwanazi’s lack of remorse and the severe threat he poses to society.
A clinical psychologist and social worker testified, warning that Mkhwanazi is likely to re-offend. He murdered two pregnant women, inflicting lasting pain and suffering on their families.
Judge Moosa declared that crimes of this nature, especially against women and children, will not go unpunished.
At just 21, Mkhwanazi received six life terms, plus 190 years for charges including rape, murder, obstruction of justice, firearm possession, and theft. He will only be eligible for release at 51, pending review.
Phindile Mjonondwane, the National Prosecuting Authority spokeswoman, confirmed the harsh sentence. Pauline Chihota, daughter of one of the victims, expressed relief and satisfaction with the verdict. She described her mother as a kind and caring woman who provided for her family.
“I’m glad justice was served. My mother didn’t deserve this,” Pauline said.
