Serial Burglary Suspect Nabbed After Seven Break-Ins in Chiredzi and Zvishavane

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of burglary and theft cases reported across Chiredzi and Zvishavane, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed on Friday.
The suspect, identified as Jabulani Gumbo, was allegedly linked to seven separate incidents between July 2024 and 2 July 2025 involving unlawful entry into homes and businesses.
ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Gumbo faces multiple charges, including a robbery at a shop in Mudereki Village, Zvishavane, where groceries were stolen on 25 May 2025.
He also stands accused of stealing a motorbike from inside a bedroom at a residence in Section 10, Hippo Valley Estate, Chiredzi.
The bike was later recovered hidden in the Madzivadondo area of Zvishavane.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Jabulani Gumbo (24) in connection with a spate of unlawful entry into premises and theft cases which occurred between July 2024 and 2 July 2025 in Chiredzi and Zvishavane.
“The suspect is clearing seven cases including the one at Mudereri Village where grocery was stolen and another at Hippo Valley Estate where a motorbike was taken from inside a bedroom and later recovered,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
Commissioner Nyathi expressed appreciation for the community’s support during the investigation.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police applauds the public for providing information which led to the arrest of the suspect,” he said.
