Senegal Sack Coach Pape Thiaw After FIFA World Cup Exit

Senegal Sack Coach Pape Thiaw After FIFA World Cup Exit – The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has dismissed head coach Pape Thiaw and his entire technical team following the country’s disappointing exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The federation announced the decision on Sunday after Senegal were eliminated in the Round of 32 following a 3-2 defeat to Belgium.
Thiaw, 45, had taken over as Senegal’s head coach in 2024 and had recently signed a new contract ahead of the World Cup.
His dismissal comes despite leading Senegal to victory at the Africa Cup of Nations in January, although that triumph later became the subject of controversy after an appeals committee awarded the title to Morocco two months later.
In a statement, the federation confirmed that it had parted ways with Thiaw and his technical team as it begins preparations for future competitions.
The Senegal Football Federation is expected to announce a new head coach in the coming weeks.
