Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Legal Team to File Third Appeal for Bail
The legal representatives of American rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs are preparing to file a third appeal for his release from prison, two weeks after his arrest on serious charges.
Court documents obtained by People on Monday indicate that Alexandra Shapiro, a member of Combs’ legal team, has submitted a notice of appeal following two previous denials of bail. Combs was arrested on September 16 at a Manhattan hotel.
The next day, a 14-page document detailing the allegations against him was released. Combs faces accusations of organizing a series of events dubbed “freak offs,” described by prosecutors as elaborate sexual performances. He is also charged with drugging and sexually assaulting his victims.
On September 18, Combs was denied bail for the second time and is currently held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
Magistrate Judge Robyn F. Tarnofsky, who made the ruling, expressed concerns regarding Combs’ alleged substance abuse and anger management issues, stating she did not believe he could be trusted to refrain from harming others.
Despite the gravity of the charges, Combs, who has pleaded not guilty, has reportedly been taken off precautionary suicide watch. Sources indicate that he has received a visit from his family while in custody.
“He is focused and very strong,” a lawyer for Combs told People. “He is concentrating on his defense and preparing for his trial.”
Combs is scheduled for his next court appearance on October 9.
