The ZIFA Northern Region Division One championship is heating up, with extraordinary incentives being offered to players as they vie for the title.
Scottland FC, currently in a fierce battle with leaders MWOS, is set to receive a remarkable reward: each player will be gifted a Toyota Aqua if they win their upcoming match against Herentals Under-20.
In a recent showdown, five Scottland players were recognized for their outstanding performance, receiving an Aqua after their 3-1 victory over Harare City.
This victory has kept their championship hopes alive, as they continue to push forward against formidable opponents.
Meanwhile, MWOS demonstrated their strength by defeating CCLEE Mhangura with an impressive 5-0 scoreline.
Key players Wisdom Mutasa and Everson Feremba each netted two goals, while Tinotenda Mutyambizi added another to secure the win and maintain their lead in the standings.
Scottland managed to secure a win against Harare City at Mkushi Academy, with Cleopas Dube and Ronald Pfumbidzai contributing goals. Despite Harare City temporarily leveling the score, an own goal ultimately sealed the fate of the match in favor of Scottland.
The generous Toyota Aqua rewards are sponsored by local businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo, who has also promised a vehicle for each player if Scottland triumphs over Herentals in their next match.
After the recent victory, Sir Wicknell tasked Fally Ipupa (Junior) with selecting the five players who will receive the cars.
In addition to the Aqua rewards, Scottland players will also receive a US$2000 bonus, previously tied to a six-goal victory over Harare City.
Club president Scott Sakupwanya praised the team’s performance, deciding to grant the bonus despite not meeting the original target. The atmosphere in the dressing room was electric as the good news was shared with the players.
