Scottland F.C. Snatch Late Equalizer to Hold Highlanders at Barbourfields

Scottland F.C. Snatch Late Equalizer to Hold Highlanders at Barbourfields – A dramatic 92nd-minute goal from Mthokozisi Msebe secured a crucial point for Scottland F.C. against Highlanders in a tense 1-1 draw at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Highlanders had appeared on course for victory after Andrew Mbeba put them ahead in the 82nd minute with a well-taken direct free kick. However, Scottland refused to back down, and Msebe’s late header ensured they avoided defeat in the dying moments of the game.

The result marked Highlanders’ second consecutive draw, following a 2-2 stalemate against Green Fuel two weeks ago.
Bosso dominated the first half, creating several opportunities, but a resolute Scottland defense, marshaled by former Highlanders player Peter Muduwa, kept them at bay.
Scottland showed greater attacking intent in the second half, prompting coach Tonderai Ndiraya to introduce star players Khama Billiat and Walter Musona in the 67th minute. However, the duo struggled to make a significant impact.
After the match, Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu expressed frustration with the result.
“I am a bit disappointed. Our tactics didn’t work as planned. This is how we drew the last game as well. With a bit of luck, we could have won. With such an atmosphere, I honestly think we should have won,” he said.
On the other hand, Scottland coach Ndiraya praised his team’s resilience.
“I think it was a good game. It was 50/50 in the second half; we were a bit better. We showed good character to pick up this point. This is a new team, so coming here to Barbourfields and getting a draw is a good achievement,” he said.
Sunday’s result leaves Scottland on seven points after four games, while Highlanders sit on five points from as many matches.
