Sanyatwe Appoints New SRC Board to Revive Zim Sport

The Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Honourable Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Anselem Sanyatwe, has appointed a new Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) Board, effective 8 July 2025 to 7 July 2029, in a move aimed at strengthening governance and inclusivity in Zimbabwean sport.
The appointments were made in line with Section 11(9) of the Public Entities and Corporate Governance Act and Section 5 of the Sports and Recreation Commission Act.
The new board is expected to provide strategic direction, promote talent development from grassroots to elite levels, and improve sports infrastructure.
“This board is not ceremonial. We expect them to champion transparency, nurture talent and ensure that all sporting disciplines receive equal attention,” said Ministry Secretary Nicholas Moyo.
Dr. Nathaniel Madzivanyika will chair the new board.

Other members include Gwinyai T. Mharapara, Hlengiwe Dube, Shingai J. Rhuhwaya, Givemore Madzoka, Valentine S. Mudenda, Lillian N. S. Chikara and David Simba.
Moyo emphasized that the Ministry expects the board to focus on strengthening governance in national sports associations and securing sustainable funding.
“Zimbabwean sport deserves systems that work and leadership that listens to athletes and stakeholders,” he said.
The Ministry congratulated the new board, expressing confidence in their ability to deliver a new era of growth and success for sports and recreation in the country.
