SA Minister Motsoaledi Offers Condolences After N1 Tragedy Involving His Convoy Claims Zimbabwean Mother and Child

South Africa’s Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has expressed his condolences to a grieving family in Zimbabwe after three members died in a road incident on the N1 near Bela Bela in Limpopo.
According to reports, a woman was crossing the road with her child strapped to her back after her husband had earlier been struck and killed by a vehicle driven by an off-duty police officer.
As she attempted to cross, one of the vehicles in Motsoaledi’s convoy hit her.
The minister’s vehicle was reportedly driven by a Protection Security Services officer.
Health Department spokesperson Foster Mohale said the matter is under investigation by the police.
“While the matter is currently handled by the police, Minister Motsoaledi would like to extend his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased on the tragic loss of their loved ones,” Mohale said.
Family members of the victims said they remain devastated.
Family spokesperson Charles Shoperai said his sister was a cornerstone of the family and the main breadwinner.
“I am not feeling well because what has happened is not good at all. I was not around here because I stay in Venda. I just heard from the people who were at the scene. The woman is my sister…”
