SA Influencers Reject Dirty Campaign to Smear ‘Bombshell’ Geza

South African social media influencers have rejected and returned payments allegedly offered to discredit ex ZANU PF committee member and war veteran Blessed “Bombshell” Geza, in what observers have described as a failed smear campaign orchestrated to undermine his growing popularity.

Zimbabwean journalist Hopewell Chin’ono exposed the alleged plot stating that several influencers were approached with large sums of money to publish false narratives painting Geza as a criminal and fraud.

However, many reportedly backed out after learning more about Geza’s role as a respected liberation war fighter and whistleblower against state corruption.

“This attempt is shameless. It’s an old ZANU-PF tactic they once tried on me,” Chin’ono wrote.

“People are not stupid. Well done to South African influencers for refusing to be used by this corrupt regime.”

Geza, who was recently expelled from ZANU-PF after publicly demanding President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s resignation, has become the face of a growing but fragile movement calling for political reform in Zimbabwe.

He spearheaded calls for the March 31 protests against Mnangagwa’s alleged attempt to extend his rule beyond constitutional limits.

While the protests did not gather significant crowds due to a heavy police presence and public fear, Geza’s message has continued to resonate, especially among young Zimbabweans and disillusioned war veterans.

Videos of him speaking out against the government have gone viral across platforms, drawing comparisons to other regional freedom figures.

The government has not commented on the bribery allegations, critics say the attempt to silence Geza using foreign influencers could backfire diplomatically.

Geza remains in hiding but has vowed to continue his activism, calling for a peaceful citizen-led transition. Despite attempts to discredit him, his image as a fearless war veteran challenging the status quo appears to be solidifying.
