SA Gospel Singer Solly Moholo Dies at 65

Gospel singer Solly Moholo, known for his hit songs Ke Latlhile Bokinza and Robala ka Khotso, has passed away at the age of 65.

After battling illness in the hospital, Moholo sadly lost his fight for life. His team shared the heartbreaking news on Wednesday evening, 2 October.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you, on behalf of the Molokoane family, that our beloved legend, Solly Moholo, has passed on. Solly was hospitalized after falling ill following his pre-album launch tour in Botswana,” they said, adding that he will be deeply missed.

They continued, “May his laughter echo in the halls of heaven. Let’s remember him for the healing music he shared with us over the years. The family requests privacy as they mourn and prepare for his burial.”

Details regarding Moholo’s memorial and funeral services will be shared in the coming days through his social media channels. His team also urged fans to keep the family in their prayers during this difficult time.

Mphoza Mashabela, Provincial Chairperson of the Limpopo Artists Movement (LAM), expressed sorrow at the loss, noting Moholo’s impact on the sione music genre.

“His passing leaves a huge void. We lost greats like Oleseng Shuping and Kenny Makweng, and now Solly. I’m heartbroken. I had planned to invite him to perform at the Limpopo Legends Awards. He was a humble man, a talented producer who discovered artists like Winnie Mashaba and the late Matlakala,” Mashabela said.

LAM had also tried to raise funds for Moholo’s medical bills, but sadly, he passed away. “Only God knows who will celebrate his life forever,” he added.
