Russian Serial Killer Pichushkin Confesses to 11 More Murders

RUSSIA – Alexandr Pichushkin, infamously known as the “Hammer Maniac,” has confessed to 11 additional murders, according to the Russian Penitentiary Service (FSIN).
This revelation brings his self-reported victim count to 59, adding to the 48 murders for which he is already serving a life sentence.
The newly admitted murders occurred in Moscow’s Northern Butovo district.
The FSIN, working alongside the Russian Interior Ministry’s Criminal Investigation Directorate, uncovered this information through extensive operational efforts.
Marca.com reports that Pichushkin chillingly remarked during his trial that he would have continued killing had he not been caught, acknowledging that his arrest prevented further loss of life.
His method of killing involved bludgeoning victims with a hammer and disposing of their bodies in city sewers.
Pichushkin, arrested in 2006 and convicted in 2007, initially stated that his goal was to kill 64 individuals, symbolic of the number of squares on a chessboard.
Despite calls from victims’ families for the death penalty, Russian authorities upheld strict measures against capital punishment introduced in 1996 when the country joined the Council of Europe.
The source, Marca.com, also highlights that Pichushkin is undergoing mandatory psychiatric treatment due to the severity of his mental state.
Currently detained in a high-security Arctic prison, Pichushkin has shown no remorse for his crimes, further underscoring the chilling nature of his actions.
