A 24-year-old Nyanga man, Happymore Piyo, has been sentenced to five years in prison after brutally attacking and robbing a woman, threatening to gouge her eyes out with a knife during the assault. Robber Threatens to Gouge Victim’s Eyes with Knife

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) confirmed the incident on X, stating that on September 11, 2024, around 9:00 AM, the victim was on her way to London Stores Business Centre when Piyo approached, pretending to ask for the time.

After the victim answered, Piyo suddenly grabbed her by the neck, tripped her, and pinned her to the ground.

He brandished a knife, pointed it at her eye, and demanded her purse. Fearing for her life, the woman handed over her belongings.

Piyo fled with a Samsung A02 cellphone and $6, but was later caught through a citizen’s arrest. The stolen items, valued at $134, were recovered, with only $118 retrieved.

Piyo received a five-year sentence, with one year suspended, leaving him to serve four years behind bars.
