Rihanna Drops “Lift Me Up” For Black Panther Wakanda Forever: Here Are The African Musicians Expected To Be On The Movie Soundtrack

Lift Me Up is the lead single from the Marvel movie’s soundtrack titled Wakanda Forever: The Album.

It also marked the first solo release by Rihanna since her eighth album ANTI was released in January 2016Lift Me Up is a tribute to the late American actor Chadwick Boseman who played King T’Challa/Black Panther in the first Black Panther movie.

Boseman passed away in 2020 after a private battle with colon cancer. His passing shocked the world after he became a figure for black people globally when he played the lead role in the first movie.

Apart from Rihanna, the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack Wakanda Forever: The Album is expected to feature Nigerian musician Tems.

Tems is one of the writers of Rihanna’s comeback single Lift Me Up.  She will feature on the movie soundtrack with the song No Woman, No Cry.

Her version of the extremely popular Bob Marley song featured in the first official trailer of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.  The trailer was released on 24 July 2022.  Another African musician who is set to be on Wakanda Forever: The Album is Ghanaian Amaarae.

Her song A Body, A Coffin was released together with Tems’ No Woman, No Cry as part of a three-song EP titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Prologue.

The other song was Soy by Mexican musician Santa Fe Klan.  Apart from Tems and Amaarae, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will also feature Nigerian musician Rema.

His voice was featured in a later trailer of the Black Panther sequel released in October 2022. Zambian musician Sampa The Great is expected to be another African on Wakanda Forever: The Album.

Her single Never Forget which features Chef 187, Tio Nason and her sister Mwanje was featured in a Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer.
