Harare — Scott Sakupwanya, a Zanu PF legislator from Mabvuku and close confidant of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, is gearing up for a grand birthday celebration featuring American rapper Rick Ross. The multi-Grammy Award-winning artist is set to perform in Zimbabwe on February 28, 2026.

Ross, whose real name is William Roberts II, confirmed his appearance in a video message on Instagram, expressing excitement about the event, which he referred to as a “next-level” birthday party hosted by Sakupwanya.

“Zimbabwe, I just got word I’m coming out rocking with my homie Scott,” Ross stated in the clip. “The birthday bash is going to be next level, February 28. It’s going to be historic — we’re making history. It’s all about big moves, and my homie Scott makes big moves.”

As Sakupwanya turns 47, he continues to gain attention for his opulent events that merge business, politics, and international entertainment. His connections with global celebrities have positioned him as one of the most flamboyant and controversial figures within the ruling party.

Sakupwanya’s previous endeavors include bringing renowned personalities like Floyd Mayweather Jr. to Zimbabwe, solidifying his strategy of leveraging star power for personal and political gain. In 2022, Ross performed at the Harare International Conference Centre, reportedly drawing a performance fee of around $200,000 through ROAR Entertainment.
