Raza To Captain Zimbabwe In Home Tri-Series Against South Africa, New Zealand
HARARE — Zimbabwe will host South Africa and New Zealand in a high-profile T20I Tri-Series from 14 to 26 July at Harare Sports Club, with seasoned all-rounder Sikandar Raza named captain of the home side.
The tournament adopts a double round-robin format, with each team playing four matches before the top two proceed to the final scheduled for 26 July.
Zimbabwe’s campaign begins against South Africa on 14 July, followed by fixtures against New Zealand on 18 and 24 July, and a second match against South Africa on 20 July.
The Chevrons have assembled a 16-man squad combining tested experience with emerging talent.
Left-arm seamer Richard Ngarava returns to full fitness after a lower back injury and will spearhead the bowling unit alongside Blessing Muzarabani, who also rejoins after recovering from a setback.
Promising all-rounder Brian Bennett has been cleared following a concussion sustained during the Test series against South Africa in Bulawayo.
According to a report carried by H-Metro, Zimbabwe will also feature familiar faces like Ryan Burl, Tony Munyonga, and Tashinga Musekiwa, all of whom impressed in the team’s February T20I series against Ireland.
In addition, three players will make their T20I debuts: wicketkeeper-batter Tafadzwa Tsiga, left-arm pacer Newman Nyamhuri, and leg-spinner Vincent Masekesa, adding fresh depth to the squad.
