Principal Sentenced to Nine Years for R@ping Student in a Car

A 45-year-old principal from a Harare college has been sentenced to nine years in prison following a conviction for the rape of a 16-year-old student. The sentencing took place in the Harare Magistrates’ Court.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the crime occurred on June 13, 2025, after the principal and the student attended a sports event.

Upon their return, the principal parked his vehicle outside the school’s reception area. He then moved to the back seat, where he attempted to undress the student. When she resisted and pinched him on the neck, he forcibly raped her.

The victim’s screams alerted a nearby security guard, who approached the car. The principal quickly dressed and left with the guard.

She could not hear their conversation since the offender was walking away from the car with the security guard. The principal came back and drove the victim to her place of residence.

The situation came to light when the principal later called the victim, and she mistakenly added her brother to the call, revealing her distress. Following counseling, the victim confided in her pastor about the incident.

In court, the principal received a 12-year sentence, with three years suspended, resulting in an effective nine-year term.
