President Mnangagwa Overhauls Zanu-PF Leadership in Surprise Shake-Up

HARARE – President Emmerson Mnangagwa, in his role as Zanu-PF First Secretary, has announced a major reshuffle of the party’s Politburo, implementing leadership changes in line with the Zanu-PF constitution.

The appointments are effective immediately.

Advocate Jacob Mudenda, who previously served as Treasurer General, has been appointed Secretary General. He replaces Cde Obert Mpofu, who now takes over as Secretary for Information Communication Technology (ICT).

Cde Patrick Chinamasa, formerly Secretary for Legal Affairs, has been reassigned to the role of Treasurer General.

Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi, who had been serving as Secretary for ICT, has been moved to the Legal Affairs portfolio.

The changes were confirmed in a statement released Tuesday night by Zanu-PF Spokesperson Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa, who said, “These changes are effective immediately.”

According to the Chronicle, the reshuffle was carried out under Article 9 Section 65, as read with Section 67 of the Zanu-PF constitution.

Ambassador Mutsvangwa added, “The re-organisation of the Politburo underscores Zanu-PF’s enduring commitment to the policies, tenets and ethos of the ruling party, in service to the people and nation of Zimbabwe.”

No additional appointments were announced, but party officials say Mnangagwa’s restructuring is part of a broader strategy to align leadership roles with the party’s evolving priorities and reinforce internal systems.
