President Mnangagwa Mourns Archbishop Paul Mwazha

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has expressed profound sadness over the death of Archbishop Ernest Paul Mamvura Mwazha, calling him one of Zimbabwe’s most respected spiritual leaders.
In his condolence message, the President honored Archbishop Mwazha, affectionately known as Mutumwa weAfrica, as a significant figure in Zimbabwean spirituality.
He highlighted that Mwazha’s teachings on holiness, unity, and African self-determination greatly shaped both his church and the spiritual identity of Zimbabwe.
As the founder of the African Apostolic Church, Archbishop Mwazha was instrumental in promoting Zimbabwe’s spiritual sovereignty, especially during colonial times.
Under his leadership, the church became one of the largest indigenous Christian movements in Southern Africa.
President Mnangagwa noted that Mwazha’s focus on family values, discipline, and good citizenship contributed greatly to national development and unity. In recognition of his impact, the President has awarded him national hero status.
“His passing is not just a loss for his family and followers, but for the entire nation,” the President stated. “Rest in peace, Archbishop. May your soul find eternal tranquility.”
