President Mnangagwa Cracks the Whip: Zanu PF Vehicles, Cash Must Serve Party, Not Individuals

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has drawn a firm line on the use of Zanu PF resources, declaring that all vehicles and funds allocated to party officials remain the property of the party and must be used strictly for political mobilisation ahead of the 2028 harmonised elections.
Speaking on Wednesday at State House in Harare, Mnangagwa handed over 30 Ford Ranger double cab vehicles to Central Committee members and warned that any misuse would result in swift disciplinary action.
“You are representing your province. It is not a personal vehicle where you only carry your wife and family members. You are just the custodian of the vehicle which came from the party to carry out party activities in the province.
“If I gather that the directive has been defied, I will not only withdraw the car but remove you from your party position,” declared President Mnangagwa.
The vehicles, distributed to enhance mobility and visibility of Zanu PF programmes, form part of a broader strategy to strengthen the party’s grassroots reach.
Mnangagwa said the initiative was designed to ensure that no province is left behind as the party gears up for the next electoral cycle.
Zanu PF Secretary General Dr Obert Mpofu reinforced the President’s message, stating that both the vehicles and the US$100,000 handed to provincial chairpersons earlier in the week are strictly for party use.
“Cars belong to the party and will be validated and fall under the inventory of the party. They belong to the beneficiaries on behalf of the party.
“The same applies to the money given to provincial chairmen. It is not their personal money—it belongs to the province,” emphasized Dr Mpofu.
According to The Herald, the vehicles are expected to boost mobilisation efforts and improve operational efficiency across all provinces.
Central Committee members praised the gesture, describing it as a strategic move that will energise party structures and expand outreach.
“I want to thank our President for giving us this vehicle in Harare Province. He is indeed a listening President. He has fulfilled the policy of leaving no place and no one behind.
“The gesture will uplift our province in terms of mobilising support,” expressed Cde Christine Taruwona.
“This will take our party forward. As Central Committee members, we are national leaders. With these vehicles, it will enable us to cover the whole province and effectively run the party and get into every corner that needs our presence to push the party work,” noted Cde Charle Chiponda.
The vehicle handover came just 48 hours after President Mnangagwa donated 10 fully equipped Toyota Land Cruiser ambulances to provincial referral hospitals, reinforcing the Second Republic’s commitment to modernising Zimbabwe’s health sector.
The ambulances are designed to improve emergency response times and ensure that critical care reaches patients without delay.
“These ambulances will ensure timely emergency care for everyone. We are committed to ensuring that every province has the necessary medical equipment to respond effectively to emergencies,” affirmed President Mnangagwa.
Each ambulance is fitted with essential life-saving equipment, including oxygen tanks, resuscitation kits, delivery packs for pregnant women, intravenous lines, and other emergency tools.
The rollout is part of a broader national strategy to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and guarantee equitable access to medical services across all regions.
In addition to the ambulances, Mnangagwa also handed over 10 vehicles and US$100,000 to Zanu PF provincial chairpersons, reiterating that all resources must be used transparently and in line with party objectives.
Dr Mpofu confirmed that the party maintains a detailed inventory of all distributed assets and will continue to monitor their use to ensure compliance.
