Pregnancy Isn’t The End — It’s Your Turning Point, Says Dr Manners Msongelwa

Dr Manners Msongelwa, a Zimbabwean youth coach, has urged schoolgirls who fall pregnant during exams to face their situation with courage and continue pursuing their dreams.

His message, aimed at teenage mothers, encourages them not to quit school or isolate themselves, but to seek support and keep their future in sight.

In his message, Dr Msongelwa emphasized resilience and self-belief.

“Falling pregnant during exam time is not the end of your dreams.

“Yes, it’s a painful setback, but you can rise again. You can still become the strong, successful woman you were meant to be,” he said.

He advised girls to speak out and confide in trusted adults such as parents, guardians, or teachers.

The coach stressed the importance of staying in school and not letting shame push them away from their goals.

“If you can still write your exams, do your best to finish. If it’s too much right now, make a plan to re-sit later. What matters is not giving up. Education is still your key to a better future,” he said.

Dr Msongelwa also warned against isolation and negative influences, urging girls to surround themselves with supportive people.

“Shame may tempt you to isolate yourself. Don’t. Distance yourself from toxic voices that mock or drag you down,” he said.

He encouraged young mothers to take responsibility and protect themselves from repeating the same mistake.

“You are still worthy of love and dignity — but now, your choices matter more than ever,” he added.

He reminded girls that their future is still within reach, and that many successful women have overcome similar challenges.

“You can still be a nurse, teacher, engineer, entrepreneur — anything you’ve ever dreamed of. Let this be your turning point.”

Dr Msongelwa concluded by urging girls to stay close to God and pray for strength.

“Dear girl child, you may have stumbled, but you have not fallen forever. Rise. Wipe your tears. Step boldly into the future.”

As thousands of Grade Seven pupils sit for their final exams across Zimbabwe this week, his message comes at a critical time for young girls facing unexpected challenges — reminding them that setbacks do not erase their potential.
