Police Swoop on Armed Duo at Crowded Beitbridge Terminus

Two men were arrested at Dulivhadzimu Bus Terminus after allegedly displaying a pistol in public, sparking panic among commuters and triggering a swift response from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

Simbarashe Jimmy Madziva (27) was apprehended following a tip-off from members of the public.

He was found in possession of a pistol loaded with a magazine containing seven blank cartridges.

During questioning, he implicated Munyaradzi Chitsike (39), who was arrested shortly after.

In a statement shared on their official Twitter account, the ZRP said:

“On October 2, 2025, police in Beitbridge acted on received information and arrested Simbarashe Jimmy Madziva (27) at Dulivhadzimu Bus Terminus for unlawful possession of a pistol loaded with a magazine of seven blank cartridges.

“The suspect implicated, Munyaradzi Chitsike (39), leading to his arrest.”

According to The Chronicle, the arrests come amid intensified crackdowns on firearm smuggling along the Limpopo River, a corridor increasingly exploited by cross-border traffickers.

Authorities have ramped up surveillance in the region to stem the flow of illegal weapons.

Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity involving firearms.

Investigations are underway to trace the origin of the weapon and determine its intended use.
