The renowned sungura musician performed at KwaDzonzayi Complex, drawing large crowds where opportunistic criminals targeted unsuspecting fans.

Victims of the thefts are being urged to visit Chipinge Police Station with proof of ownership to reclaim their devices.

Following numerous reports of theft, police launched investigations and arrested suspects believed to be responsible.

Some stolen phones were recovered from their possession, while others were traced to individuals who unknowingly purchased them.

In a statement, ZRP said, “The Zimbabwe Republic Police have recovered a number of stolen cellphones from Alick Macheso’s show on 21 March at KwaDzonzayi. We urge those who lost their devices to visit the police station with proof of ownership to facilitate the return of their property.”

Law enforcement officials have also highlighted the risks of attending crowded events, advising concertgoers to remain vigilant and secure their belongings.

Public gatherings, such as concerts, often attract criminals who exploit the chaotic environment to commit theft.

Police recommended that event organizers collaborate with security personnel to improve safety for attendees.
