Police in Masvingo Arrest Trio Attempting to Bribe Officers with USD 200 for Unlawful Possession of Copper Cables
Police in Masvingo arrested three individuals on Monday for unlawfully possessing copper cables.
The suspects, identified as Tinashe Zengeya (31), Roane Kembo (44), and Willium Tunhuma (41), were apprehended at a residence in Westview while loading burnt copper cables into sacks.
Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement officials conducted a search of the property, which resulted in the recovery of several electrical copper cables and copper rewinds.
The situation escalated when the suspects attempted to bribe the police officers involved in the operation.
A bribe of USD 200 was offered and subsequently seized, leading to an additional charge of bribery against the trio. The amount has been documented as an exhibit in the case.
