Police hunt for clues in double murder Investigation

Police in Murereka have arrested Goodwill Love (25) for a murder incident that occurred on November 8, 2024 at Fairplay Farm near Risheng Mine in Chikuti.

Benny Chidiwa was allegedly subjected to a gruesome attack by three suspects namely Bigboy and Brave who used  shovel, logs and firewood to inflict severe injuries.

The assault was motivated by a cellphone theft accusation with Bigboy claiming Chidiwa stole his phone.

According to police, the victim succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest.

“Murereka police have apprehended Goodwill Love (25) in relation to a fatal incident at Fairplay Farm, Chikuti near Risheng Mine where Benny Chidiwa lost his life on November 8, 2024”.

“The suspect and his two accomplices, only identified as Bigboy and Brave allegedly took turns to assault the victim with a shovel and logs before burning his feet with firewood after accusing him of stealing a cellphone belonging to Bigboy”,said Commissioner Nyathi.

Meanwhile, Harare police are appealing for information to assist in the investigation of a murder after a yet-to-be-identified man was found dead at a church shrine in Chirasavana, Dema on November 8, 2024.

The body of a yet-to-be-identified man was found wrapped in a blanket, suffering a head injury.

A blood-sustained stone was recovered at the scene.
