Photos: Car Showrooms Empty as Dealers Brace for March 31 Protests

Are Zimbabwe’s car dealerships bracing for the worst? It appears so, as many have reportedly cleared their showrooms ahead of the anticipated March 31 protests to safeguard their prized stock.

Social media has been flooded with images of eerily empty car showrooms, with reports suggesting that dealers aren’t taking any chances. Investigative journalist Hopewell Chin’ono weighed in, saying this move is a precautionary measure to avoid possible damage if the protests turn chaotic. And let’s be honest—nobody wants to see a luxury ride turned into a bonfire in the middle of a street showdown!

While businesses seem to be taking precautions, the government is not in a mood for games. Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe, in a late-night press conference, made it clear that the security services are firmly on the side of law and order.

“We will not hesitate to take decisive action,” warned Kazembe, in what sounded like a no-nonsense message to anyone thinking of joining the demonstrations. The minister emphasized that authorities are ready to deal with any threats to peace and stability, further reinforcing the government’s stance against the planned protests.
