Petrotrade Launches Fuel Card to Tighten Expense Control and Curb Fuel Abuse

State-owned petroleum company Petrotrade has rolled out a new fuel card designed to make refueling more secure, efficient, and transparent for businesses and private motorists across Zimbabwe.
The card grants 24/7 access to fuel at selected Petrotrade stations nationwide. It also offers competitive prices, loyalty discounts, and real-time expense tracking via a digital portal.
Petrotrade says the rollout supports its broader strategy to modernize fuel management and improve customer service.
In a statement, the company said the fuel card “is designed to simplify the fueling process, especially for fleet operators and consumers who need tighter expense control,” adding that users “can monitor usage patterns, set limits, and manage budgets more effectively.”
According to The Herald, the card features advanced security tools to prevent unauthorized use. It also aims to reduce reliance on cash transactions and strengthen accountability, particularly within the transport and logistics industries.
The fuel card is available to both companies and individual motorists. Petrotrade noted that corporate clients can track detailed fuel usage reports, while private users benefit from seamless access and potential cost savings.
To improve access, Petrotrade has partnered with additional service stations across Zimbabwe. The company said this expansion will extend coverage for cardholders in both urban centers and remote areas.
Zimbabwe’s downstream fuel sector is overseen by the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA), which licenses fuel retailers, enforces standards, and monitors compliance across the industry.
