Parliament Records 178 CDF Proposals—32 Constituencies Yet To Submit

A total of 178 out of 210 constituencies have submitted their project proposals for funding under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), Speaker of the National Assembly Advocate Jacob Mudenda announced on Wednesday during a session of Parliament.

The submissions were made ahead of the September 30 deadline, which allows time for administrative checks before the final handover to the Treasury by October 31.

Mudenda urged the remaining 32 constituencies to expedite their proposals to ensure they are considered for funding.

“According to Parliament records, 178 constituencies out of 210 have submitted their project proposals for funding through the CDF.

“They have up to September 30 to allow administrative checks before their submission to the Treasury by October 31,”said Advocate Mudenda.

The Constituency Development Fund is a government initiative that provides financial resources to Members of Parliament for development projects in their constituencies.

These projects typically include infrastructure upgrades, education support, and community empowerment programs.

Funds are disbursed by the Treasury and monitored by Parliament to ensure transparency and accountability.

As reported by The Herald, the Speaker emphasized that timely submissions are essential to guarantee equal access to funding across all constituencies.

He also noted that Parliament will continue to monitor the implementation of funded projects to ensure public resources are used effectively.

The high number of early submissions reflects growing awareness among legislators of the importance of aligning with national development priorities and meeting procedural requirements.

Once Treasury approvals are granted, Parliament is expected to oversee the disbursement of funds and track the rollout of development initiatives across the country.
