Overnight Generator Fumes Claim Lives of Two Lovers

NIGERIA – Two lovers, including a woman identified as Peace, were discovered dead in their Port Harcourt residence on Saturday, allegedly due to inhaling fumes from a generator left running overnight near their room.

According to the Daily Post, concerned neighbours noticed the couple had not left their room the next morning, prompting them to force the door open.

The lifeless bodies of the pair were found, and the matter was immediately reported to the Central Police Station by the residents.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, confirmed the incident. Preliminary investigations indicated that the deaths were caused by inhalation of generator fumes, which had accumulated overnight in the confined space.

Authorities have reiterated the importance of adhering to safety guidelines when operating generators. Improper use of these devices continues to pose a serious risk, as highlighted by this tragic event.

The community remains in mourning over the preventable loss of two lives, while calls for increased awareness on safe generator practices grow louder.
