One life lost, seven hanging in balance after Copperbelt truck collision
ZAMBIA-Copperbelt Province witnessed a horrific road accident near Nyenyezi Market in Masaiti District, earlier today as a Hino truck transporting goats from Mumbwa District collided with another truck.
The devastating collision claimed one life on the spot with seven more victims rushed to hospital for emergency care, battling severe injuries.
According to a surviving passenger, the Hino truck driver had requested a brief rest due to exhaustion, but eager passengers pressed him to continue onward to Kasumbalesa Border, where they hoped to sell their goats. Ultimately this fateful choice ended in tragedy.
An investigation into the accident is underway with authorities stressing the crucial need for adequate driver rest to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
