Old Mutual Manager Convicted of Rape of UZ Student

A business development manager at Old Mutual, Musa Nyasha Dube Manyika, has been found guilty of raping a University of Zimbabwe student interning at the company.
The ruling was made by Harare regional magistrate Estere Chivasa after a full trial.
Manyika was convicted on multiple charges and is scheduled for a pre-sentence hearing today.
The court heard that in November 2022, Manyika contacted the student via WhatsApp, asking her to assist him at Old Mutual Gardens.
He picked her up from the university campus and took her to his office, where he raped her.
Afterward, he apologized and gave her gifts, including a T-shirt and a juice bottle, while threatening to revoke her scholarship if she spoke about the incident.
In June 2024, Manyika called the student again under the pretense of discussing her career.
During that meeting, he drove her to a secluded area and raped her once more before taking her home, asking for forgiveness afterward, H-metro reports.
The judge ruled that the evidence presented by prosecutor Chido Gohori proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
