Newcastle United Set to Sign Anthony Elanga for £55 Million
Newcastle United has reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign Swedish winger Anthony Elanga for £55 million. Sources indicate that the deal could be finalized this week.
As Newcastle prepares to return to the Champions League after finishing fifth in the Premier League last season, they are looking to enhance their attacking lineup. The 23-year-old Elanga scored six goals and provided 11 assists during a successful campaign with Nottingham Forest in the 2024-25 season.
So far this summer, Newcastle has not paid for any players, with only 18-year-old Spanish winger Antonio Cordero joining on a free transfer from Malaga, reports BBC.
Nottingham Forest previously signed Elanga from Manchester United for £15 million in 2023, where he had been since he was 12 years old, making 55 appearances before his move.
Elanga’s impressive performance at Forest has increased his value significantly. His crossing ability is notably strong, averaging 6.65 crosses per 90 minutes, compared to Newcastle’s wingers, who average below 5. This, along with his direct play and effectiveness in front of goal, makes him a valuable addition.
Newcastle sees Elanga as a versatile player who can create opportunities both in domestic and European competitions. His statistics show that he excels in crucial attacking metrics, including goal-creating actions and shots on target, demonstrating his efficiency and sharpness in front of goal.
