New Telenovela ‘Kwa Baba’ Premieres on Mzansi Magic in June

Mzansi Magic is set to raise the stakes this June with the premiere of its latest telenovela, Kwa Baba, a culturally immersive drama packed with romance, betrayal, tradition, and family conflict.
The series will debut on 1 June on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161), airing weekdays at 7:30PM.
At the centre of the story is Zwelakhe Mkhize, portrayed by Vuyo Biyela, a young businessman determined to build a future with the woman he loves.
But his plans are thrown into turmoil when he is forced to confront a traditional obligation tied to his late father’s unpaid debt—an obligation that threatens to upend everything he has worked for.
Zwelakhe’s love interest is played by Rorisang Mohapi-Grootboom, who is known for her roles in _Gqeberha: The Empire_ and Kwa-Tsholo.
As the story unfolds, viewers will watch Zwelakhe struggle to balance modern love with cultural expectations, as the series poses a dramatic question: how much can one person sacrifice for family and tradition?
A Mother’s Secrets and a Family’s Reputation Under Pressure
Veteran actress Hlengiwe Lushaba-Madlala takes on the role of MaMbokazi, Zwelakhe’s strong-willed mother.
Her mission is clear: protect her family and safeguard their reputation—while navigating painful secrets from the past that could reshape their future.
The series also features a supporting cast including Mpho J Molepo, Helen Lebepe, Lindani Nkosi, Nkanyiso Mzimela, Kwanele Mthethwa, Sparky Xulu, and Phumzile Mlangeni.
