Nestlé Supercharges CEREVITA, Crowns Zim a Regional Breakfast Giant

Food giant Nestlé Zimbabwe has supercharged CEREVITA production, turning Zimbabwe into a regional cereal powerhouse and deepening its promise to nourish families for generations.
This follows a US$7 million investment to expand cereal manufacturing capacity in Harare, boosting Zimbabwe’s role as a key hub for breakfast cereal across Eastern and Southern Africa.
As it stands, production capacity has already jumped by over 35% thanks to a new state-of-the-art Roller Drier, improving availability nationwide while upholding Nestlé’s strict quality standards.

“CEREVITA holds a special place on Zimbabwean tables, loved for its signature toasted flavour and rich aroma,” said Khaled Ramadan, Managing Director for East Africa and Greater Zambezi operations.
“Made with whole grains, it’s naturally high in fibre, essential fats, and minerals perfect for nourishing the whole family.”

The cereal is fortified with GRAINSMART, a blend of iron, vitamins, and minerals that helps support energy release throughout the day, making it a smart choice for both children and adults.
Nicole Roos, Managing Director and Chairperson of Nestlé East and Southern Africa Region, described the investment as a celebration of local pride.
“This is about more than just infrastructure it’s about empowerment and reflecting our local grain, taste, and spirit,” she said.
Beyond Zimbabwe’s borders, CEREVITA is now making waves in Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique, positioning the country as a leading breakfast cereal exporter.
The investment also supports Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, advancing sustainable manufacturing through energy efficiency, water savings, and waste reduction while promoting community wellbeing.
Locally, CEREVITA comes in five variants; corn and wheat, corn and banana, corn, cocoa and malt, flakes with milk, and corn and sorghum available in 500g sachets and 750g bag-in-box options.
According to the company, Nestlé has nourished Zimbabwean families for over 60 years, and through this latest investment, the company vows to keep serving future generations with pride.
