“Ndosaka Makatizwa naPresident!” — Hwende Mocks Health Minister’s Incompetence, Gets Kicked Out of Parliament

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) MP Charlton Hwende was booted out of Parliament on Wednesday after mocking Health Minister Douglas Mombeshora for being left out of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s surprise visits to Harare’s major hospitals.
The drama erupted after Manicaland CCC legislator Prosper Mutseyami posed a sharp policy question on access to affordable healthcare and essential medicines in public institutions.
Mombeshora, responding in Shona despite the English-language query, immediately drew the ire of Hwende.
“On a point of order, the question was asked in English. The Standing Orders are clear that the Hon. Minister should respond in English,” Hwende asserted.
Deputy Speaker Tsitsi Gezi countered that the minister was within his rights. But Hwende wasn’t done.
After a lengthy and vague explanation from Mombeshora, Hwende took a jab:
“Ndosaka makatizwa naPresident pavakaenda kuParirenyatwa!”

The fiery comment was the final straw. Gezi ordered Hwende out of the chamber. The defiant MP resisted, insisting:
“Minister havasi kupindura mubvunzo, ndobudirei?”
Despite his protest, Hwende was escorted out by the Serjeant-at-Arms, sparking a flurry of Points of Order from fellow CCC MPs.
Makoni Central MP David Makumire argued:
“The Standing Rules and Orders say that before someone is chased out of the House, he must be informed of what his offence is.”
Another CCC legislator, Gladys Hlatswayo, pressed for an actual response to the original question:
“We kindly request the Minister to answer. If he wants to elaborate further, he can issue a Ministerial Statement.”
As opposition MPs piled on, trying to redirect focus back to public health, Deputy Speaker Gezi cut them short:
“So, have you decided to disrupt the operations of the House with points of order?”
