National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) achieves impressive clearance rate, 69,708 cases disposed

In the first nine months of 2024, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) achieved a notable clearance rate, disposing of 69,708 cases out of a total of 101,112 across the country.

Prosecutor-General, Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo, issued a statement through her deputy, Mr. Rex Shana, at the National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) 2024 Strategic Plan Review workshop in Kariba.

In a speech delivered yesterday, Justice Matanda-Moyo revealed the National Prosecuting Authority’s notable progress, highlighting a substantial clearance rate of 69,708 cases out of 101,112 between January and September.

“Between January 1 and March 31, the National Prosecuting Authority handled 35,690 cases, successfully completing 26,391 and achieving an impressive clearance rate of 73.94%.

” Building on this momentum, from April 1 to June 30, the authority managed 32,006 cases, wrapping up 21,028 with a clearance rate of 65.7%.

” Furthermore, from July 1 to September 30, the National Prosecuting Authority handled 33,416 cases, completing 21,889 and maintaining a clearance rate of 65.5%”, she said”.

Overall, the National Prosecuting Authority handled 101,112 cases, successfully completing 69,308 and leaving 31,804 pending. This translates to a clearance rate of 68.54%, highlighting the authority’s progress in addressing its caseload.
