NAMA Awards Under Fire From Holy Ten And Fans

HARARE – The National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) have come under scrutiny after Zimbabwean rapper Holy Ten was snubbed at the recent awards ceremony.

The omission of Holy Ten’s name from the list of nominees has sparked outrage among his fans and raised questions about the selection process used by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ).

Holy Ten, known for his outspoken personality, took to social media to express his disappointment and frustration, claiming that his music in 2024 was bigger than that of top artists like Jah Prayzah and Winky D.

“I have done so much for Zimbabwean music and to be ignored like this is a slap in the face,” Holy Ten said in an Instagram Live session.

He also questioned the credibility of the NAMA awards, saying “NAMAs are just BUL* SHI*.”

In a scathing attack on NACZ CEO Napoleon Nyanhi, Holy Ten said “Napoleon, hamuzvigone izvi, just leave it.”

He also demanded respect, saying “I am bigger than the NAMAs. Honestly, how could they not award me? I have done so much for Zimbabwean music.”

Furthermore, Holy Ten claimed that the lack of recognition could have far-reaching consequences, particularly for young people.

“This is why youths end up doing drugs,” he said. “I worked hard, I submitted my projects, but they ignored me. You guys don’t love or respect me. I am hurt.”

The controversy has put pressure on the NACZ to explain the selection process and to address concerns about the fairness and transparency of the awards.

In the meantime, Holy Ten has demanded that Nyanhi resign, claiming that he has failed to promote and recognize local talent.
