Naledi Wishes to Open for Chris Brown on Her Birthday
Naledi Aphiwe Myongwane, a 17-year-old singer from Inanda, Durban, hopes to open for American superstar Chris Brown during his South African tour on December 14-15. Aphiwe, a multi-award-winning artist, recently completed her final exams and is excited to return to music full-time.
“Opening for him would be the best gift I’ve ever received in my life,” she said. Aphiwe is known for her viral singing videos and her collaboration with Chris Brown on the track “Shooter” from his 2023 album. Her talent has captured the hearts of fans around the world.
Aphiwe expressed her wish to perform at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, especially since her birthday is on December 16. “Since my birthday is on the 16th, I hope they will call me to open for him then. It would be the best gift ever. Chris Brown coming back to South Africa makes me feel valued because I was part of his journey, and it brings me great joy,” she shared.
Reflecting on her journey, Aphiwe emphasized the importance of education. “Finishing school is crucial because it opens doors. There were times I couldn’t perform due to school commitments, but now that my exams are done, I can focus on my passion,” she explained.
She encouraged other young people to prioritize their education while pursuing their dreams. “Stay in school, even if good things are happening in your life. Be patient and finish your studies, as education is vital. I managed to balance my music and school, and I’m confident I’ll pass,” she advised.
With her matric exams behind her, Aphiwe is now channeling her energy into creating new music. She plans to release an EP in March 2025, promising even more soulful tunes for her fans.
