Murambinda Boy Battles Unexplained Skin Condition, Mother Appeals for Assistance

MURAMBINDA – Thirteen-year-old Tinotenda Chitura from Murambinda is struggling with an undiagnosed skin disease that has kept him out of school for years.
His mother, Tambudzai Mazaakate, is appealing for help to secure medical treatment, as the condition, which began when he was nine, remains unresolved despite visits to hospitals and traditional healers.
The condition began with a sore on Tinotenda’s head and worsened over time.
“I noticed a sore on his head and decided to shave his hair with a razor, thinking it might help. Instead, the sores spread further and I initially assumed the razor was to blame,” she explained.
According to The Mirror, doctors at Murambinda Mission Hospital diagnosed an allergic reaction and advised her to avoid certain foods, including red meat, fish and kapenta. However, the sores persisted and further assessments at Parirenyatwa Hospital provided no answers.
Desperate for solutions, Mazaakate turned to traditional remedies, which only provided temporary relief. “I don’t know what else to do and I am pleading for help, whether it’s from medical experts or traditional healers. My son deserves to recover and get back to school,” she said.
Tinotenda, a Grade 7 pupil at Murambinda A Primary School, has missed significant schooling and faces uncertainty about sitting for his ZIMSEC exams later this year.
The family’s financial challenges prevent Mazaakate from seeking treatment at private healthcare facilities, leaving her with no other option but to appeal for public support.
Every passing day without treatment further jeopardizes Tinotenda’s future.
