According to reports, authorities are now investigating Chatunga’s immigration status, with indications that he could face further charges related to allegedly residing in South Africa illegally.

The pair appeared before the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on February 23. During court proceedings, Chatunga’s legal representatives informed the court that he suffers from a chronic medical condition. It was further reported that he collapsed twice while in custody.

The matter has drawn significant public attention in both Zimbabwe and South Africa, given Chatunga’s high-profile family background and the gravity of the allegations.

The two accused are expected to return to court on March 3 for a formal bail application, where the court will determine whether they will be granted bail pending further investigations and trial proceedings.

Authorities in South Africa have not yet issued a comprehensive statement regarding the immigration allegations, but developments in the case continue to unfold.
