Muchenje Takes the Helm at Schweppes as Msipa Retires

Schweppes Holdings Africa Limited has appointed Stanley Muchenje as its new Managing Director, officially assuming the role on May 1, 2025.
His appointment follows the retirement of Charles Msipa, who stepped down at the end of April after 20 years leading the company.
Muchenje, a seasoned executive, joins Schweppes with an extensive background in the beverage industry.
Before his appointment, he led African Distillers (Afdis), a Zimbabwe Stock Exchange-listed company, since 2021.
According to Herald, his career began at Delta Beverages in 1997, where he rose through senior roles in sales, distribution, and marketing.
Schweppes Board Chairman Vulindlela Ndlovu officially announced Muchenje’s appointment, expressing confidence in his leadership.
With nearly three decades of experience, Muchenje is expected to bring strategic expertise to his new role.
Beyond his corporate experience, Muchenje holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Honors), an IMM (SA) qualification, and a Master’s in Philosophy (Marketing).
He also completed executive training through the SAB Miller/Gordon Institute’s Accelerated Leadership Development Programme, preparing him for his leadership role at Schweppes.
As Schweppes transitions under new leadership, industry analysts anticipate strategic shifts aimed at strengthening its market position and fostering innovation in the beverage industry.
