Dr. Cas Shotter Weetman faced her daughter’s killer in court, enduring a chilling encounter with the man she calls “the monster.”
Mohamed Iidow, 35, displayed little reaction in the dock as CCTV footage showed his brutal assault on Natalie Shotter, a beloved NHS worker and mother of three, who was raped and left unconscious on a Southall Park bench on July 16, 2021.
Shotter’s family members, including her mother Cas, an NHS cardiology specialist, held back tears as Iidow, who was accused of stalking Natalie before his assault, appeared emotionless. Despite Iidow’s denial of guilt, the evidence proved fatal injuries due to assault.
Cas criticized the police response that night, as a bystander’s plea for help was disregarded by officers nearby, possibly sealing her daughter’s fate.
The Old Bailey trial ended in a landmark conviction, establishing a precedent for oral rape as a cause of death, a ruling Cas hopes will empower other women in their pursuit of justice. Mother of Three Dies in Brutal Assault
