Mother Hospitalized After Husband Splashes Hot Porridge On Her
A woman is in the hospital after suffering facial injuries from an incident where her husband allegedly splashed hot porridge on her.
Itayi Chingoka, who is breastfeeding her two-week-old daughter, was rushed to Makumbe District Hospital following the altercation that took place on Thursday. The domestic dispute occurred with her husband, Lazarus Brazara, commonly known as Kakaka.
Due to the severity of her injuries, Itayi has been forced to stop breastfeeding and is now seeking assistance.
Police in Chinamhora arrested Lazarus, who was questioned before being released.
In an interview with H-Metro, Itayi recounted that her husband appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the incident and was using vulgar language in front of their children. She believes this behavior escalated into the scuffle.
“My husband came home drunk and started shouting at me using bad language. I warned him about using obscene language since our children were present. While I was preparing sadza, he took the pot and splashed hot porridge on me,” Itayi stated.
Efforts to obtain a comment from Lazarus regarding the incident were unsuccessful.
The community is rallying around Itayi as she navigates this challenging situation, highlighting the ongoing issues surrounding domestic violence.
