Mnangagwa to Chair SADC Extraordinary Summit Tomorrow

President Mnangagwa is scheduled to lead the SADC Extraordinary Summit tomorrow November 20, focusing on regional peace and the bloc’s industrialization agenda.
On Thursday, SADC Executive Secretary Mr. Elias Magosi met with the President at State House in Harare to discuss summit preparations, which began Sunday and will culminate in the Heads of State meeting.
Magosi assured that all arrangements are in place, stating, “Preparations are going smoothly with committees meeting and documents being prepared.”
The Organ on Politics, Defence and Security (Organ Troika) committee is responsible for drafting the peace and security agenda. Preliminary meetings have been held to set the stage for the summit, which will also address financial and policy matters.
Additionally, Magosi noted discussions about President Mnangagwa’s upcoming visit to the SADC headquarters in Gaborone, Botswana, to review the organization’s work.
They also highlighted Zimbabwe’s role in regional industrialization, emphasizing the importance of developing products locally rather than exporting raw materials.
The summit will also cover recent elections in Mozambique and Botswana, as well as the upcoming elections in Namibia on November 27.
Professor Amon Murwira, who accompanied Magosi, expressed confidence in the preparations, stating everything is in order for a successful event.
