Mkwasine Man (23) Found Murdered in Locked Room, Police Hunt Killer

CHIREDZI – A 23-year-old man from Mkwasine was found dead with multiple stab wounds inside his locked bedroom in the early hours of Wednesday, moments after relatives were awakened by his desperate screams.

The victim, Webster Dzivo of Admin A, was discovered lying in a pool of blood with deep wounds to his back and abdomen.

His room had been locked from the inside, prompting family members to break down the door after hearing him cry out at around 2am.

According to police, Evans Dzivo — a relative and his wife were the first to respond to the noise.

They rushed to Webster’s room but found the door locked.

After forcing entry, they were met with a horrifying scene: Webster was unresponsive, and the attacker had already fled.

Masvingo Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident and appealed to the public for assistance.

“We are appealing to members of the public to assist us with information that can help us find the suspect,” said Dhewa.

Police attended the scene and transported the body to Chiredzi General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Investigators are working to determine how the assailant accessed the locked room and escaped without being seen.

The murder has sparked concern across the Chiredzi community, where residents say violent crime is becoming increasingly common.

Just last month, TellZim reported a wave of armed robberies and assaults in the area, some targeting homes in residential neighbourhoods.

As the manhunt intensifies, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
