Mistaken Identity Chaos: Innocent Man Targeted Amid Spencer Mapfumo’s Arrest
In light of the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s (ZRP) press statements released on November 4th and 15th, 2024, regarding the arrest of Spencer Mapfumo (42) and others for a series of robberies in Harare, a troubling case of mistaken identity has emerged.

The arrest of Spencer Mapfumo has inadvertently led to an innocent individual with the same name being subjected to social media attacks. The ZRP aims to set the record straight: the Spencer Mapfumo arrested for robbery is not the same person being unfairly targeted online.
To prevent further confusion and harm, the police urge social media users to verify information before sharing. Attached are photos of the suspect, Spencer Mapfumo, and the innocent individual who has been harassed.
