Miss Universe DRC Director’s Condom Gown Goes Viral
The national director of Miss Universe Democratic Republic of Congo, Anado Kabika, made a striking statement at the pageant’s coronation night on November 17.
Kabika turned heads by wearing a gown crafted from thousands of condoms, showcasing her commitment to sexual health awareness and social responsibility. The images of the Condom dress are currently going viral even though the pegeant took place last month.
In a post on Instagram, the former Miss Congo 1st Runner-Up, known for her daring fashion choices, emphasized that her gown was more than just a fashion statement.
“Relive the Miss Universe evening! My condom-designed gown promotes awareness and safe practices. I think you get the message,” she wrote, adding, “Indeed, wear protection.”
During a red carpet interview, Kabika explained that her choice of materials aimed to highlight the importance of safe sex practices. “I have a cause, to support and for everyone to wear condoms. People nowadays don’t wear condoms anymore. We need to protect ourselves,” she stated.
Kabika also shared that her gown included both used and new condoms. “I think some of the condoms here are already used, and half are new ones, so I combined them,” she revealed.
In the pageant, Denmark’s Victoria Theilvig was crowned the 73rd Miss Universe, making history as the first Danish woman to win the title. This year marked Denmark’s first appearance in the top five since 1957, adding to the significance of the event.
