Minor survives brutal knife attack
RUSAPE – Tapiwa Muchena (27) was arraigned before the court for allegedly attempting to stab a 15-year-old girl in the left eye with a knife in Headlands residential area.
Muchena appeared before Rusape Magistrates’ Court charged with attempted murder and was remanded in custody to October 21, 2024.
It is the State’s case that on July 26, 2024, Muchena was walking along a foot path leading to the Headlands residential area when he saw the complainant walking ahead. He then dragged her to a nearby bush, where he stabbed her once in the left eye.
It is alleged that the complainant managed to grab the knife when the accused raised it to stab her again.
The court heard that the complainant sustained deep cuts on both palms. The minor bit the accused person’s hand and he let go before she screamed for help.
A police report was filed and the accused person was apprehended after a tip-off.
The complainant identified him during an identification parade.
