Mine Shaft Collapse in Mashava Claims Three Lives, Injures Six

MASHAVA—Three miners lost their lives, and six others sustained injuries when a mine shaft collapsed at Bere SP Mining Syndicate, Village 1, Boss Mine, in the early hours of April 12, 2025.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the incident in a statement posted on its official Twitter handle.

The victims were working underground when the shaft gave way, trapping them beneath the rubble.

Emergency responders managed to retrieve the bodies, which were taken to Masvingo General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations.

The injured miners were admitted to the same hospital for treatment.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse, while safety concerns surrounding mining operations in the region remain a topic of discussion.
