Michael Nees Fired as Warriors Head Coach

Michael Nees has been let go as the head coach of the Warriors after a string of disappointing results.

The German coach, who started in July 2024 on a two-year deal, struggled to achieve consistent performance, even though he managed to qualify the team for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) announced the termination of his contract, effective immediately.

In an official statement, ZIFA said, “The Executive Committee has decided to end Mr. Michael Nees’ contract right away. We thank him for his efforts and contributions to Zimbabwean football during his time with us. His dedication to the sport and service to the national team are greatly valued.”

ZIFA also emphasized its commitment to improving technical development programs and ensuring progress in football, in line with their reform agenda.

More details about the transition and interim arrangements will be shared soon.
