Matobo Man Jailed 15 Years for Brutal Rape of 14-Year-Old Juvenile

A 36-year-old man from Ndlabatsha Village in Matobo has been slapped with a 15-year jail term after he was convicted of raping a 14-year-old juvenile in her home.
The convict appeared before the Kezi Magistrates Court, where the state proved that on September 24, 2025, around 3PM, he visited the victim’s home pretending he wanted to charge his cellphone in her bedroom.
In a statement In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said:
“After plugging in his phone, the offender asked the young woman to follow him outside, but she refused.
“He then dragged her back into the bedroom, covered her mouth to silence her, and forcibly undressed both of them before raping her. Following the attack, the man left the scene.

“The victim reported the ordeal the next day after confiding in her teacher at school. Her mother was informed, and the matter was swiftly reported to the police, leading to the offender’s arrest and conviction,” read part of the statement.
NPAZ commended the swift justice but emphasised the importance of community vigilance.
“Justice has been served, but prevention is more powerful. We urge communities to remain alert in protecting children and reporting any suspicious or exploitative behaviour,” NPAZ said.
